University of Maryland Police responded to reports of vandalism, burglary and trespassing, among other cases, this week.
Vandalism
At about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, University Police responded to a vandalism report at the Benjamin Building, police spokesperson Sgt. Rosanne Hoaas wrote in an email.
A female student reported she was sitting in a room when she heard three males throwing rocks at a window, which she eventually heard crack, Hoaas wrote.
Police stopped the males on Campus and Presidential drives. They admitted to being in the window’s vicinity and taunting individuals in the room but said they did not throw any rocks. One said he threw a dime and another said he tossed a bottle cap.
Police transported the three males, all juveniles, to the police station, where they were held until a guardian picked them up.
All three were issued a denial to campus, Hoaas wrote.
This case is active.
Burglary
At 11:54 a.m. on Nov. 26, police were informed of a burglary that occurred on Nov. 21 at 5:30 p.m. at Stamp Student Union.
A person entered the bookstore, took items and left. There is video footage of the incident, and police are reviewing the tape, Hoaas wrote.
This case is active.
Trespassing
An individual was found sleeping on the ground near the Artemesia Building on Nov. 26 at about 9:55 a.m.
An officer arrived and woke the man, who provided his identification. Police discovered they had interacted with the same man in the past for trespassing in the same building.
The trespasser, who has no affiliation with the university, was issued a denial of access and left the area.
This case is closed.
