What to watch for Maryland: No more Kevin Huerter

This isn’t exactly a hot take, but Kevin Huerter was really good at basketball last season. He made over half of his shots from the field and over 40 percent of his shots from three while playing almost 35 minutes per game. As a sophomore he was second on the team in points per game and third in rebounds per game. Huerter left after two years with the Terps to enter the NBA draft, where he was selected in the first round by the Atlanta Hawks. The game against Delaware will be our first chance to see how Maryland replaces a first-round talent.

What to watch for Delaware: Making its free throws

For the Blue Hens last season, the charity stripe wasn’t really that charitable. They shot a ghastly 65.9 percent from the free throw line, which ranked 327th out of 351 teams in Division I. Making your free throws generally is pretty important when a team is looking for an upset and if Delaware can’t consistently take advantage of getting to the line, Maryland will be able to breathe easier about a possible upset.
