Maryland football received positive news on Monday after their 42-13 blowout win against Minnesota on Saturday.
Linebacker Tre Watson was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week and running back Anthony McFarland was named Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week.

Watson recorded 11 total tackles, six solo, one tackle for loss, one sack and one interception against the Golden Gophers. His interception was a pick-six and he led all players in total tackles and solo tackles. A graduate transfer from Illinois, Watson already has a pair of interceptions to his name this season.
McFarland had six carries for 112 yards and two rushing touchdowns. He was second on the team in rushing yards and he led the team in rushing touchdowns in the win. The redshirt freshman from DeMatha also had over 100 rushing yards in Maryland’s loss to Temple.
Maryland is on their bye week. They will be facing Michigan on the road Oct. 6.
