The whole gimmick where it looks like the Direct is over and then one last big announcement related to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is made is getting old, Nintendo. I just want to say that up top because I’m gonna spend the rest of the article talking about how cute all the games on the Switch are.

Nintendo’s latest Direct — originally scheduled for Sept. 6 but postponed due to an earthquake — delivered a lot of headlines, but not much we didn’t already know. That is, of course, except for the surprise that…

Isabelle is in Smash! She even has her own Twitter where she made the announcement herself! We love a strong, independently wealthy woman.

Isabelle is now the cutest confirmed playable character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, taking Pichu’s spot. She doesn’t look like an echo fighter of Villager either, who hails from the same series. A new mainline Animal Crossing game is coming 2019 too, according to the Direct.

Look at Yoshi! He’s got a new 2.5D platformer coming out that looks adorable as all get-out. It’s looking sort of like Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker or Fez where you can change the orientation of the camera to solve puzzles — and then you can flip the camera around completely and complete the stages backwards again!? I’m a little disappointed the rumored name Yoshi’s Flipping Island wasn’t real, but I’ll take what I can get.

You’ll also be able to give your Pikachu or Eevee stylish new hairstyles in the upcoming Pokémon games depending on how you pet them. Revolutionary.

Some less cute announcements include details on the Switch’s online service (it includes the ability to play NES games on the Switch, and NES Joycons are on the horizon as well), updates to Mario Tennis Aces and a new Luigi’s Mansion game coming soon. We got some new info about the upcoming Mario Party game, which will have 80 all new minigames played on the classic board format (the car is finally gone!). The Switch will also be getting Mega Man 11, which will hopefully break the series’s streak of never having put out a good game.

As with every Direct, more ports and remasters were announced as well, the most exciting of which is New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe Edition, which includes some new characters to play as. Other than that, you can buy Katamari Damaci again if you want.

Overall, it was a slightly underwhelming Direct that packed a lot of hype into only a few new pieces of information. If Nintendo didn’t make such great games I’d complain more.
