If you haven’t been to NextNOW Fest before, it’s The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center’s annual back-to-school celebration of the arts. There will be theater, stand-up, dance, screenings, interactive entertainment and a whole slew of talented musicians on campus this Friday and Saturday.

With this year’s lineup of local performers and on-the-rise headliners like cupcakKe and Washington D.C., native Ari Lennox, there’s a genre for everyone. If you’re into rap, cupcakKe might be for you. But also, maybe not. Her content is extremely explicit, probably a lot more explicit than what you’re used to; the Clarice has even posted a disclaimer on its website due to adult language and partial nudity. Lennox and fellow singer Den-Mate have a sultrier sound, while bands The Downtown Boys and The Districts bring rock to campus.
