Alexander Ashy, a 21-year-old from Bethesda who has attended the University of Maryland, has been located “safe and unharmed,” according to a news release from Montgomery County Police.
Ashy, who attended this university from the summer 2015 semester through the fall 2017 semester, was reported missing after family members couldn’t locate him Friday.

Facebook posts from Ashy’s family members indicated that he may have been in need of health services.
He was spotted in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor on Sunday, and Facebook posts from family members indicated he he had little money and no phone or ID at that time, and had said he wanted to “walk to Canada.”
In a Facebook post Thursday, Ashy’s mother, Kathy Sullivan, thanked those who helped find Ashy.
“Alexander has been found in the Baltimore area and is receiving medical treatment,” she wrote. “So grateful – overwhelmed with the support of our community for our loved ones.”
