The memorial service for Gerald Fischman, a University of Maryland alumnus and Capital Gazette shooting victim, is scheduled for Sunday.
The service for The Capital’s former editorial page editor is set to begin at 1 p.m. It will be held at Judean Memorial Gardens, 16245 Batchellors Forest Road, Olney.
Fischman, 61, was shot and killed alongside four of his colleagues on June 28 in what police say was a targeted attack against the paper’s Annapolis newsroom. Two killed were also affiliated with this university — John McNamara was a fellow alumnus, and Rob Hiaasen was a journalism lecturer.
McNamara’s memorial service will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at this university’s Memorial Chapel on July 10. On Monday, hundreds gathered to mourn Hiaasen at the Irvine Nature Center in Owings Mills.
