Former Maryland defensive back Josh Woods signed with the Chicago Bears on Friday, becoming the second Terp to join the Bears this offseason.
Woods and former defensive lineman Cavon Walker were both at Chicago’s minicamp, but Woods was a free agent before Friday.
Though Woods was a safety in 2017, he has moved to linebacker, according to the Bears’ tweet announcing the roster move. The 6-foot-1, 204-pound Baltimore native had 62 tackles, including 4.5 for a loss, four pass breakups and two interceptions.
Woods was a three-star recruit coming out of the McDonogh School and spent four years in College Park. He played in 34 games and made 14 starts for the Terps, with all of his starts coming in his junior and senior years.
The Bears are the second team to sign multiple Terps rookies this offseason, with the Carolina Panthers drafting former receiver DJ Moore and former linebacker Jermaine Carter in April.
