University Police have charged a 40-year-old man in connection with an assault reported on April 24, according to a press release.
Police got an arrest warrant on April 25 for Clarence Ingram Haywood Jr., from Largo, Maryland, and charged him with second degree assault and trespassing on school grounds, according to the press release.
A male student reported that Haywood hit him on the arm near Paint Branch Drive, and then threw a rock that missed him, the press release read. Haywood then fled on foot, and was last seen heading toward Baltimore Avenue.
The student — who reported that he does not know Haywood — was able to take a picture and a video during the assault, according to the press release.
University Police received the report at 7:39 a.m., the release said, and an officer met with the student at UMPD headquarters. The officer looked at the students’ pictures and video and identified the suspect as Haywood Jr., according to the press release, and police issued Haywood a denial of access to campus along with the warrant.
