Maryland men’s lacrosse midfielder Logan Wisnauskas is the Big Ten Freshman of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Wisnauskas, a redshirt freshman, contributed to No. 2 Maryland’s offensive success in its 13-5 win against then-No. 15 Michigan on Saturday. He scored three times and recorded two assists.

Wisnauskas, who transferred from Syracuse, has started every game and scored 21 goals, the third-most on the team. He has scored at least a goal in every contest.

His contributions have helped offset the losses of last season’s title-winning attacking trio, which consisted of Matt Rambo, Colin Heacock and Dylan Maltz. Those players tallied 99 goals as Maryland went 16-3 en route to its first national championship in 42 years.

Wisnauskas averages 2.33 goals per game, which ranks fourth in the country among eligible freshmen.

Maryland will face No. 15 Penn State on Sunday night.
