What to watch for Maryland: Can Christinaki stay hot?
Since she made six of 11 3-pointers and dropped 26 points against Ohio State on Jan. 22, Eleanna Christinaki has not shot the ball well or very efficiently. However, on Friday against Princeton, the transfer guard scored 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds. Her efficient shooting proved key against Princeton, and if she can do that again against an NC State team that will try to slow the pace and limit Maryland’s possessions, the Terps should be in good shape.
What to watch for NC State: The former Terp
Four players transferred away from the Maryland women’s basketball program last summer, and one of them was redshirt-junior guard Kiara Leslie, who graduated and ended up at NC State, where she became immediately eligible. After missing all of her final season as a Terp with injury, Leslie has played in all 33 games (and started 25) for the Wolfpack this season. She is second on the team in scoring, averaging 12 points per game, and is adding almost six rebounds per contest. If Leslie plays well against her old team, she could send the Wolfpack to the Sweet 16.
