Bahram Momen, a professor in the University of Maryland’s environmental science and technology department, died Monday night, according to members of the department. He was 62.
Department Chair William Bowerman wrote in an email to students, staff and faculty that Momen was “a beloved member of the ENST family and will be greatly missed.”
The department will make arrangements to provide coverage for the courses Momen was teaching this semester, Bowerman wrote. A faculty member trained in grief counseling is also available Wednesday to speak with students affected by Momen’s death.
A small group will gather Wednesday at about 5:15 p.m. at Mulligan’s Grill and Pub at this university’s golf course to honor Momen’s memory, Bowerman wrote.
“[T]he news is sad and our loss is great,” Bowerman wrote.
