Maryland football is reportedly expected to hire Matt Canada to replace Walt Bell as its offensive coordinator, according to AL.com’s Matt Zenitz.
Canada was LSU’s offensive coordinator last season, leading a Tigers attack that ranked just 54th in the nation in total offense and 76th in scoring. Before his brief stint in Baton Rouge, he served as the offensive coordinator for Pittsburgh and North Carolina State, among other schools.
If Canada takes the position, he’ll fill in for Bell, who moved to Florida State this past week.
The 46-year-old would inherit an offense without star wide receiver DJ Moore, who left after his junior season for the 2018 NFL Draft. But the Terps will feature an offensive line bolstered by redshirt seniors Damian Prince and Derwin Gray, and they should return quarterbacks Kasim Hill and Tyrrell Pigrome, both of whom tore their ACLs last season.
