Maryland women’s basketball guard Blair Watson will miss the remainder of the season after tearing her right ACL in practice Wednesday, per a team release.
The sophomore was in the midst of a breakout season, averaging 13.8 points per game, skyrocketing from the 2.9 per game she averaged as a freshman. The Nutley, New Jersey, native shot 44.1 percent from 3-point range and added 4.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game.

Last season, Watson was limited after undergoing shoulder surgery prior to her freshman campaign. However, her confidence soared after earning her first career start in Maryland’s season opener against Albany. Prior to the injury, she was the second-leading scorer for the No. 11 Terps (15-2, 4-0 Big Ten).
Watson will undergo surgery at a later date.
