Beloved trap god Gucci Mane, whose real name is Radric Davis, tied the knot Tuesday night to his girlfriend of seven years, fitness and beauty entrepreneur Keyshia Ka’oir, on a live broadcast, “The Mane Event.”
If you’ve ever wondered what heaven might look like, the couple’s $1.7 million all-white ceremony, donned with lavish roses, curtains and jewels is probably a good start.
The wedding, broadcast from Four Seasons Miami by BET, was hosted by Karrueche Tran and social media influencer Kendall Kyndall, with the pair conducting a series of “white carpet” interviews with celebrity guests. Lil Yachty, clad in a luxurious white and tan animal print fur, brought his mother to the ceremony and praised Gucci and Ka’oir’s love as as “fresh” and “original.”
Fellow trap royalty and 20-year friend of Guwop, 2 Chainz, brought his wife and was casket-sharp in his all-white, with a Chanel brooch in place of a bow tie. He had some wise words for the couple: “Trust is the common denominator.”
The program cut away to other celebrities congratulating the couple, including Big Sean and Jhené Aiko, former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kim Zolciak, and R&B singer Monica, who is one of the rapper’s best friends and expressed elation in seeing his growth and happiness.
“This is everything that you deserved,” she said.
The wedding is also the first episode of the Davises’ reality show, and much of the running time was spent showing sneak peeks. The clips gave viewers a look into the planning process, which was met with clashing between Ka’oir and wedding planner Kathy Romero.
The Jamaica native also introduced her bridal party, which included her best friend from high school, a close friend of Gucci Mane’s and rapper Trina. A scene from the wedding rehearsal showed Gucci gifting his fiancée a luxurious turquoise and cream 2018 Rolls Royce.
Gucci walked down the runway-style aisle to Bruno Mars’ “That’s What I Like,” which was disappointing, as almost any of Gucci’s songs describing the brightness of his bling would’ve been a legendary accompaniment. The bridesmaids and groomsmen walked down to similarly underwhelming song choices — Kelly Clarkson’s “A Moment Like This,” Charlie Puth’s “One Call Away” and John Legend’s “All of Me” (a beautiful song, but overplayed).
He was obviously smitten as he awaited his bride in a penguin-tailed tuxedo with sparkly silver loafers. Ka’oir looked stunning in a long sleeve embroidered, crystal-encrusted dress, equipped with a long feather train. She walked down the aisle to the rhythm of Patti Labelle’s “If Only You Knew.” The couple repeated their vows after the pastor, the first time viewers heard Gucci speak during the special.
The officiate characterized their relationship as “inconvenient love.”
In 2014, Gucci Mane was sentenced to more than three years in prison on a federal firearms violation, yet Ka’oir stuck with him. He was released in May 2016 and recently got off probation. Ka’oir said they would talk on the phone everyday and work out together despite the distance.
“[Inconvenient love will] make you grow up when you want to give up,” the pastor said.
The couple was crowned Mr. and Mrs. Radric Davis, and made an elegant exit with beautiful smiles on their faces to the tune of the Monica-featured “We Ride,” off Gucci Mane’s latest album Mr. Davis.
