Tuesday night, the United States men’s soccer team failed to qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1986 after a shocking 2-1 loss to Trinidad and Tobago.
This was a disappointing outcome for everyone involved with the national team, and that includes Taylor Twellman. Twellman appeared in 30 games for the United States between 2002 and 2008.
And more importantly for this blog, he spent two seasons (1998 and 1999) playing for Maryland under the tutelage of Sasho Cirovski.
The former Terp is an ESPN analyst and used his platform to express his displeasure with America’s failure to qualify on Tuesday night.

Bruce Arena’s team’s failure to qualify will also mean that there will not be any chance to see former Terps like Omar Gonzalez and Graham Zusi representing their country in Russia this summer.
