Campbell becomes the seventh signing for coach DJ Durkin’s 2018 class, which includes four in-state members. The 6-foot-2, 221-pound inside linebacker had offers from 17 schools, including Duke, Rutgers, Pittsburgh and Indiana.
He’s the third inside linebacker signed for the 2018 class, adding depth to the position. Though the Terps currently have five on the roster, Jermaine Carter Jr. is entering his final season of eligibility.
Linebackers coach Matt Barnes tweeted following Campbell’s commitment that the “unit just got better” with the signing.
Unit just got better with a big time guy who wants to stay ????, get a world class education, and play at the highest level of CFB! #DMVtoUMD
