It may have taken 82 games, but Jake Layman finally got his first start in an NBA game last night, when the Portland Trail Blazers faced the New Orleans Pelicans.
With the Blazers having already clinched the No. 8 seed in the NBA playoffs, they rested their starters and gave their bench a chance to get some playing time, which opened the door for Layman.
The former Terp finished the game with 10 points, four rebounds and three assists in over 37 minutes of playing time.
For those who were unable to watch, we have GIFs of all 10 of Layman’s points from his first start.
Layman’s first basket came from making a nice putback after an offensive rebound.
Layman followed up his first basket by throwing down a dunk after making a cut to the rim.
Layman’s next six points came courtesy of him showing his ability to knock down threes.
Here’s to hoping this will be the first of many starts Layman gets in the NBA.
