The Maryland men’s lacrosse team dropped in the national rankings for a second straight week despite not playing this past weekend.
After Saturday’s tilt with Albany was cancelled due to inclement weather, the Terps fell from No. 2 to No. 4. However, the Great Danes, who were ranked No. 12 last week, jumped to No. 8 in the latest poll. The teams will make up the contest on April 12.
Denver and Penn State passed Maryland in the rankings, moving coach John Tillman’s squad to its lowest national standing since April 24, 2016.
The Terps began the season 4-0 and picked up early top-15 wins over then-No. 11 Navy and then-No. 8 Yale. But two weekends ago, they fell, 5-4, to Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. The loss marked their lowest goal output in 364 days.
Maryland will host Villanova on Saturday at Maryland Stadium, where the Terps haven’t suffered a defeat since 2015.
