The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team trained at Maryland on Monday ahead of its match against France at RFK Stadium in Washington. The training session drew crowds around soccer practice fields for the chance to see Alex Morgan, Tobin Heath and Carli Lloyd, among others.
After falling to England, 1-0, in New Jersey on Saturday, the team had one day to prepare in the D.C. area before its final game in the SheBelieves Cup.

“We were supposed to train at RFK today, and the coaches decided they wanted to train a little longer because you’re only allowed a certain amount of time on the field,” team press officer Aaron Heifetz said.
That’s when the team contacted the facilities staff to use the Terps field.
“We know [Sasho Cirovski] and [Ray Leone], and they were able to arrange the field. And it was great. Great environment, great surface, it was a good training environment,” Heifertz said.
“It’s a big soccer community, right? Everybody knows everybody.”
Students flocked to north campus for the training session, as did VSA Cannons 04, a youth soccer team from Haymarket, Virginia. The group will attend Tuesday’s match.
“It was like a dream come true,” Hanna Asanovich said of watching the team train.
