No. 1 in the country. Thirteen national titles. And now, an ESPN feature.

“When I Play,” a new short film directed by espnW senior writer Allison Glock, features women of all ages, level and sports set to a poem.

About two minutes in, you can catch a glimpse of one of College Park’s top teams, women’s lacrosse, in their 2015 NCAA championship game. Attacker Megan Whittle (who just snagged Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week) can be seen celebrating her third goal of the game with attacker Kristen Lamon, a 2015 graduate.

“That was one of the best moments of my life,” Whittle said. “It’s one of the fondest memories I have of playing lacrosse and of being a Terp.”

The video celebrates not only professional athletes and Olympians but also other talented college teams like UConn’s women’s basketball team (whom Maryland narrowly lost to in December). Glock also cast women she knew from the gym, she told Buzzfeed, and made sure to hire women for other production roles.

“It’s so awesome to be included in an ESPN video, especially one with so many strong female athletes,” Whittle said. “To be shown .5 seconds after Serena Williams is really special.”
