After standout performances in a victory over No. 1 North Carolina on Saturday, two Maryland women’s lacrosse players earned Big Ten accolades.

Midfielder Jen Giles is the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, while goalkeeper Megan Taylor garnered Defensive Player of the Week recognition.

Giles scored three goals and added three assists for six points on Saturday, which matches the best production by a Terp in a game this season. Attackers Megan Whittle and Caroline Wannen each had six against Georgetown.

The sophomore has totaled six goals and four feeds this season, the second-most points on the team.

Taylor, meanwhile, made 10 saves against the Tar Heels, including several from close-range looks. She has a .571 save percentage through three games, and teammates describe her as the “backbone” of the squad.

It’s Taylor’s second weekly conference honor after she earned one with eight saves against William & Mary on Feb. 11.

They’ll look to continue their success when the Terps travel to Hofstra on Saturday.
