Is the Old Melo back?
Before Maryland’s game against Northwestern, Maryland’s star guard revisited his freshman self and got a haircut. This new look led to major dividends on the court (probably thanks to the 2015 vibes). In Maryland’s road win against Northwestern, 74-64, Trimble accounted for 32 points a new career high.

Over the last two years, Trimble has sported the bleached tips. At his most recent barbershop visit, though, Trimble rocked the flat top with a fade and suddenly all of his shooting percentages drastically improved. Here is a look at his stats this season: Before the haircut: 16.6 ppg, 43 FG%, 33 3-pt. %. After the haircut: 32.0 ppg, 75 FG%, 80 3-pt. %. Clearly the aerodynamics of Trimble’s hair style mid-air helped him elevate his shot from beyond the arc. At halftime Mark Turgeon mentioned Trimble’s earlier shooting struggles: “Everyone was talking about he couldn’t make a shot,” said Turgeon. “Everyone pissed him off so he came to play tonight.” In addition to a new hairdo, Trimble is also up for some accolades.

The Terps improved their record to 21-4 overall on the season and 9-3 in the Big Ten Conference. They currently sit 1.5 games behind first place Wisconsin, whom they play on Sunday afternoon.
