After an impressive showing in the Maryland women’s lacrosse team’s season opener, goalkeeper Megan Taylor was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.
Taylor made eight saves for a .727 save percentage to help the Terps stump William & Mary, 13-3, on Saturday. She anchored the backline as the Terps held the Tribe scoreless for a 46-minute stretch.
The Glenelg native earned the starting spot as a freshman last season and helped the Terps finish the regular season undefeated.
Taylor was last year’s Big Ten Goaltender of the Year and earned 2016 All-Big Ten, Big Ten All-Tournament and IWLCA second-team All-Region honors.
Taylor and the Terps return to the field Saturday afternoon to face Georgetown in Washington.
