“After my full evaluation among the colleges of my choice, I am more than honored and proud to announce I am 100% committed to the University of Maryland,” Hunt wrote in an Twitter attachment.
The 6-foot-7, 280-pound prospect from Courtland, Virginia also had Syracuse and Virginia in the top three that he announced on Nov. 27.
Hunt is the No. 57 defensive end in the 2017 class and is the No. 32 overall prospect in Virginia, according to 247sports. While 247sports rates him among defensive ends, Rivals analyst Adam Friedman views him as an offensive tackle at the next level.
Hunt was initially going to wait on his decision, but opted to announce his commitment at 8:30 p.m. Sunday night. Earlier in the evening, defensive tackles Breyon and Brandon Gaddy announced their commitments.
Defensive line coach Mike London was Hunt’s primary recruiter. He visited College Park on Nov. 12 for the team’s game against Ohio State and again on Dec. 2.
Hunt’s commitment brings the Terps’ 2017 class to 25 prospects.
