Maryland men’s basketball forward Damonte Dodd will missed at least three games with an MCL sprain in his left knee, according to a team spokesman. The 6-foot-11 senior will be re-evaluated after the Terps play Jacksonville State on Dec. 12.
Dodd, who’s averaging 5.9 points and 5.3 rebounds, bumped his knee at practice Monday. He then underwent an MRI, which determined the injury.
The Centreville native has helped the Terps (8-1) with his defense and rebounding this season, but he made contributions on the offensive end in Maryland’s 71-70 win over Oklahoma State on Saturday. Dodd scored 12 points on 5-for-9 shooting and grabbed eight boards.
In Dodd’s absence, coach Mark Turgeon will look to forwards Michal Cekovsky, L.G. Gill and Ivan Bender to shoulder the frontcourt load. Bender, who didn’t play against Oklahoma State with a bruised left knee, will be available Wednesday night when the Terps host Howard (1-5).
