University of Maryland Police are searching for a suspect that was armed with a handgun near the Hiker-Biker Trail and Campus Drive Tuesday night, according to a University Police news release.
The incident took place after a University Police officer initiated a traffic stop in the 4500 block of Campus Drive, according to the release. The officer detected the smell of marijuana coming from the driver and vehicle, and while searching the driver, detected what he believed to be a gun.
