On Saturday at 5:23 a.m. University of Maryland Police received a report that a sexual assault took place at South Campus Commons 1, University Police Spokeswoman Sgt. Rosanne Hoaas said.

Though an arrest was made, this incident is still under investigation, Hoaas said.

According to a sexual misconduct report conducted by the Office of Civil Rights and Sexual Misconduct, 37 reports of sexual assault were made to University officials during the 2015 academic year.

The majority of sexual misconduct reports — which include relationship violence, stalking and sexual harassment — took place on campus, according to the report.

Due to the sensitive nature of the incident, limited information is available to the public, Hoaas said.
