Maryland volleyball middle blocker Ashlyn MacGregor was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced in a release Monday afternoon. She is the first Terps player to earn that distinction.
The senior performed well at the net and as a server. She was also named to the Maryland Invite all-tournament team for her role in Maryland’s undefeated start to the season.
MacGregor averaged 2.33 blocks per set in wins over Eastern Michigan, Delaware State and Sacred Heart. She also served four aces in the tournament.
Against Sacred Heart on Saturday night, she posted a career-high 14 blocks, including two solo blocks and 12 block assists.
MacGregor will look to continue her stellar play next weekend in Lawrence, Kansas, as the Terps face No. 5 Kansas, Arkansas and Chicago State.
