When Rasheed Sulaimon was a freshman, he came to then-Comcast Center and watched the Terrapins men’s basketball fans storm the court after upsetting his Duke team.
About three years later, he took the court Tuesday night donning a Terps jersey in a similar atmosphere when the Terps hosted Georgetown at Xfinity Center.
After the Terps topped the Hoyas in a back-and-forth crowd that had the fans standing for much of the night, Sulaimon made a statement.
“Now I’m on this side, I can officially say, ‘They are the best fans in the world,’” Sulaimon said.
He was the hero in the Terps’ dramatic victory, knocking down a 3-pointer with just more than a minute left to give the Terps a 71-68 lead they wouldn’t relinquish. Sulaimon finished with 10 points and a team-high seven assists.

And he credited the raucous crowd for helping his new squad overcome a seven-point deficit with 5:48 left.
“The atmosphere out there was crazy,” Sulaimon said. “We needed every bit of it. At times, we had our ups and downs in the game, and they kind of carried us through. We just tried to feed off that energy, especially down the stretch.”
