MEMORIAL CHAPEL BONFIRE
Forget waiting until after the Terps-Duke men’s basketball game Saturday to celebrate — some students have already started.
On Wednesday night, a group of students lit a bonfire that had been set up for a postgame celebration on the Memorial Chapel lawn, according to the College Park Volunteer Fire Department.
“No the chapel is fine… MD vs Duke bonfire was set early by students… Please be careful…” the fire department wrote in a tweet at about 10:24 p.m. Wednesday.
Despite heavy snowfall, the fire was still burning at about 3 a.m. Thursday.
In December, a few finals week offerings caught fire in front of McKeldin Library, engulfing the Testudo statue in flames.

The company plans to open the property in fall 2015.
