Multiple fire departments responded to a small fire in Commons 1 Monday night.
A group of students in their fifth floor apartment unit were cooking when their stove caught fire, said College Park Fire Department Capt. David Peterson.
“It was pretty much out when we got there,” he said. “We cut the power and put some water in the stove.”
The fire caused some damage to the stove and the cabinets above, he said.
“It was good that people evacuated the building,” Peterson said. “They were out of the way when we got here.”
