Guard Shatori Walker-Kimbrough drives the ball during the Sweet 16 matchup between No. 1-seed Maryland and No. 4-seed Duke in the NCAA tournament at Spokane Arena on March 28, 2015 in Spokane, Washington.

In its inaugural Big Ten season, the Terrapins women’s basketball team went undefeated in 18 conference games en route to winning the regular season and tournament titles.

And the media and coaches both picked coach Brenda Freese’s squad to finish atop the Big Ten again this year.

Both groups of voters chose Ohio State to finish second. After running through the regular season undefeated, the Terps outlasted the Buckeyes, 77-74, to claim 2015’s Big Ten tournament championship.

In third, meanwhile, the media chose Northwestern and the coaches voted for Michigan State.

As for the individual honors, guard Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and center Brionna Jones were named to the preseason All-Big Ten team. The coaches rewarded both players with first-team All-Conference honors a year ago.

Walker-Kimbrough, who started in all 37 contests last season, was tied for second on the team in scoring with 13.3 points per game. She’ll likely be a large part of the offense again this season with the departures of former guards Lexie Brown (transferred) and Laurin Mincy (graduation).

Down low, Jones provided consistent scoring and rebounding production. Her numbers increased throughout the season, as Jones averaged a double-double in conference play.

The Terps will play their first exhibition against Goldey-Beacom on Oct. 31, while they’ll begin their quest for a third straight Final Four appearance Nov. 14 with UMass Lowell.
