Guard Seth Allen hit two free throws with 2.8 seconds left to put the Terps up 83-81 and secure the victory over Duke.

Seth Allen could have been the goat Saturday against rival Duke. Instead, he was the hero.

Despite recording a season-high eight turnovers, the Terrapins men’s basketball guard iced the Terps’ victory over the No. 2 Blue Devils, hitting two free throws with 2.8 seconds left to seal an 83-81 win. For his efforts, he was named ACC Rookie of the Week yesterday.

“found out today that I reviewed ACC rookie of the week,” Allen said on Twitter yesterday. “I couldn’t have done it without my teammates and our fans. Love y’all !!!”

Allen scored 16 points — all in the second half — on 4-of-7 shooting from the field. He made seven of his eight free throws and scored five of the Terps’ final six points. He also grabbed two rebounds, dished out one assist, blocked a shot and recorded two steals.

The Terps next game will be tonight when they take on Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
