Victim fights robber, flees scene

A College Park man fought off a robber on Wednesday, shortly before midnight while walking on Route 1, Prince George’s County Police said in a statement. No students were involved in the incident.

The victim was on the way to his sister’s house when a man approached him, displayed a knife and demanded his wallet. When he told the mugger he didn’t have one, “A short scuffle ensued.” The victim pushed the suspect away and fled the scene, police said.

Man charged with possession of deadly weapon

Officers arrested two men and charged one with possession of a concealed deadly weapon in Riverdale, Prince George’s County Police said in a statement.

Prince George’s County officers on foot patrol approached the men on the 5400 block of 55th Avenue, who were seen loitering. The men, who fled on foot, were apprehended. Police searched both men and found a loaded handgun on one of them. The other man was charged with loitering.

Gun spotted in man’s car

Officers charged a man with possession of a concealed deadly weapon last Thursday when they discovered a gun sticking out of a jacket in the back seat of his car in Riverdale, Prince George’s County Police said in a statement.

Police spotted the gun after responding to a call reporting a suspicious car in a parking lot on the 5400 block of 56th Avenue. They searched the car, confiscated the gun and arrested the man.

Juvenile arrested for possession of loaded gun

Officers arrested a juvenile with possession of a deadly weapon last Wednesday, after he attempted to flee from officers, Prince George’s County Police said.

Police approached a group of loitering men at the corner of Queens Chapel Road and Buchanan Street when the suspect fled. He was quickly apprehended, and a search revealed a loaded gun.
