You’ve got a craving for the buffalo chicken sandwich and it’s not buff-chick day at the dining hall. What do you do? Where do you go? Diversions ventured out to Route 1 in attempt to find the best alternative to the dining hall’s most hyped up sandwich

So, what did we find? Few places actually serve a chicken sandwich with buffalo sauce, instead opting for barbeque — but it’s just not the same.

But of those shops that did take a stab at topping the campus version, only two stood out as worthy opposition — Wawa and Cluck-U-Chicken’s versions. While Wawa took the high road in taste by adding some cheese and mustard to pack an extra punch, it was the overflowing, delicious sauce from Cluck-U that proved its sandwich a worthy alternative to the beloved dining hall version.

Ingredients:

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

1/2 cup blue cheese dressing

1/4 cup flour

1/4 cup margarine, melted

1 Tbsp hot pepper sauce

4 lettuce leaves

4 kaiser rolls, split and lightly toasted

Flatten chicken slightly by pounding. Coat chicken with salad dressing, dip in flour. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add chicken. Sauté 10 minutes, turning once. Remove from heat. Remove chicken, set aside. Add pepper sauce to butter left in skillet and heat over medium heat. Add chicken, turn to coat. Cook chicken an additional 1 to 2 minutes. Serve on toasted buns with lettuce, top with more blue cheese dressing. The recipe makes four servings.
