The Terrapins men’s soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Penn State Tuesday night at Jeffrey Field in University Park, Pa., in its first exhibition game of 2013.

The Nittany Lions opened scoring when freshman Mark Wadid finished an assist from fellow freshman Connor Maloney in the seventh minute.

Patrick Mullins — winner of the 2012 MAC Hermann Trophy as the best player in Division I men’s soccer — netted the equalizer for the Terps in the 37th minute on a penalty kick.

The Terps launched 13 shots compared to just three for Penn State. They also earned six corner kicks in the match, while holding the Nittany Lions without one over the three 30-minute periods.

The Terps will play their final exhibition game at home on Aug. 24 against St. Johns at 7 p.m. on Ludwig Field. The squad kicks off its season on Aug. 30 on the road at Stanford at 10 p.m.
