The Terrapins men’s soccer team’s 2013 schedule featuring a number of national, high-profile matchups was announced Monday and includes games against 10 NCAA tournament teams.

The Terps, who fell in the College Cup semifinals to Georgetown in December, open the season with games at Stanford and California on Aug. 30 and Sept. 1, respectively. The Terps hosted the Cardinal and Golden Bears in the past two years and won both matchups at Ludwig Field.

The Terps’ final season of ACC play opens against Duke at Ludwig Field on Sept. 6. The team will play 11 ACC matchups, including games against incoming members Notre Dame, Syracuse and Pittsburgh.

The conference slate in October features a difficult stretch where the Terps will play at Notre Dame — a No. 1 seed in last season’s NCAA tournament — on Oct. 8 and then return east to play at Virginia on Oct. 12.

The nonconference schedule consists of home games against Virginia Commonwealth, Old Dominion, Tulsa, Marshall and Drexel sprinkled throughout the season.

“At Maryland, we work hard to compile one of the toughest schedules in the nation and this year is no exception,” coach Sasho Cirovski said in a release. “We are looking forward to an always-challenging ACC slate as well as games against many top-flight non-conference opponents.”

The Terps open the season with two exhibitions matchups at Penn State and against St. John’s on Aug. 20 and Aug. 24, respectively. The team will try to defend its ACC title in Germantown at the Maryland SoccerPlex in the ACC tournament the weekend of Nov. 15. This fall’s College Cup is being held at PPL Park in Philadelphia on Dec. 13 and 15.
