Linebacker Darin Drakeford is tied for the team lead with six sacks and two forced fumbles this season.
Wide receiver Stefon Diggs and linebacker Darin Drakeford earned ACC player of the week honors Monday for their performances in the Terrapins football team’s 27-20 win over Virginia on Saturday.
Diggs was named the ACC’s specialist of the week after returning Saturday’s opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown and finishing with three returns for 147 yards. The freshman is the first Terp to earn the honor since wide receiver Torrey Smith in November 2009.
Drakeford, a senior, was named the conference’s linebacker of the week after recording seven tackles (three for loss), three sacks and a forced fumble recovery. Drakeford is the Terps’ second linebacker of the week this season. Fellow senior Demetrius Hartsfield earned the honor last week.
