Police have identified the college-age man who was pronounced dead last night after he was found unconscious outside of Byrd Stadium as 21-year-old Adewunmi Omisore Adepegba.
The man, who police described as a 6-foot tall black man weighing 262 pounds, is a student at this university who lives in Greenbelt, Md.
When University Police and Prince George’s County Fire Department officials arrived on the scene, the young man was unresponsive, not breathing and did not have a pulse. Fire department spokesman Mark Brady said there was no trauma to the body and officials do not suspect foul play. No cause of death has yet been determined.
Bystanders performed CPR until officials took over, Brady said. The young man was pronounced dead at Washington Adventist Hospital at about 9:45 p.m.
In an email sent out to the university community this afternoon, University Police noted the area in which the man was found is a well-lit and well-trafficked part of the campus.
