Police have charged a university lacrosse player with sexually assaulting a woman at a Virginia concert.
According to Prince William County Police, sophomore men’s lacrosse attack Benjamin Chisolm, 19, is accused of sexually assaulting the 49-year-old Colonial Beach, Virginia, woman when she fell asleep in the lawn area at Jiffy Lube Live on Sunday in Bristow, Virginia. The woman told police that she woke up to find a man touching her inappropriately. The man then walked away, according to the report.
Police arrested Chisolm for public intoxication in a separate incident, but connected him to the assault after investigating. Chisolm is charged with aggravated sexual battery and is being held without bond. He is scheduled to appear in a Prince William County court on July 17.
“We are aware of the reported incident regarding one of our student-athletes. The University takes these matters very seriously and will cooperate with authorities during their investigation,” an athletic department spokesman wrote in a statement issued to Inside Lacrosse.
Raised in Davidsonville, Maryland, Chisolm played in two games in the 2014 season, scoring one goal. While playing at South River High School, he helped his team win the 2012 state title with a perfect record, according to his online biography.
