Rudimental is here to stay

Rudimental – Not Giving In (Feat. John Newman & Alex Clare)

When I first came across this song, I wasn’t sure what to think because the voice was kind of shaky and I didn’t get the vibe that Rudimental was trying to get across. That quickly changed. Now, I pretty much play this song every day when I wake up and it gets me hyped about the day. “Not Giving In” brings a lot to the table, as it incorporates a small dubstep portion, thanks to Alex Clare, along with a building saxophone beat. I personally cant define or put this track into a genre, but that’s what I believe makes it so unique and appealing. Give this one a try, I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Wiz Khalifa – Let It Go ft. Akon & O.N.I.F.C. Album

In my mind, Wiz Khalifa’s prime has passed. Between listening to the difference in the beats he chooses and what he raps about now, there’s a significant change in the direction of his music. That being said, Khalifa’s new album, O.N.I.F.C., was mediocre at best and lacked a lot of innovation. The lack of quality collaborations and an awful feature from his soon-to-be wife Amber Rose lead to a disappointing second major label debut and has me questioning Wiz Khalifa’s future.

For the record, if you had asked me 2 years ago who my favorite rapper was, it would’ve been Wiz Khalifa hands down, but things change. The lone highlight from his new album comes on ”Let It Go,” which features Akon, and it brings an anthem feel that reminds me of Maino’s “All the Above.” All in all, this isn’t the best effort from Wiz Khalifa in my eyes and I wonder what type of material he’s going to come out with next.

Logic – Concrete

Logic has been relatively quiet since going on a summer-long Visionary Music Group tour, but this new release reminds me of how much he brings to the table. Honestly, I’ve been watching him move up the ranks in the music industry over the past year and a half and I haven’t had one bad thing to say about him. Logic is a lyrical genius who puts his heart and soul into everything he does and it’s all beginning to pay off. “Concrete” uses Nas’ “N.Y. State of Mind Pt. 2” beat to talk about where he came from, give some insight to his life story and what you can expect from him. This kid is here to stay, so I suggest jumping on the bandwagon now.
