Pokémon: Indigo League

It may be hard to watch House of Cards sometimes but have you ever watched Charmander sit in the rain?

And, sure, Walter White looks badass in a fedora and sunglasses but have you ever seen the Squirtle Squad?

If either of these references connect to an iota of your childhood then, yes, it’s okay to scream because the original Pokémon series is coming to Netflix.

Starting March 1, Pokémon: Indigo League — the first two seasons of the show — will be released on Netflix, according to The Pokemon website. The original 80 episodes will all be available to binge on with even more episodes from season 14 and two movies based off the video games Pokemon Black and White.

What’s better than Archer’s friend ocelot, Babou? The answer is Brock’s Onix. There might be a list of Netflix shows to watch but Pokémon should be on top and here is why.

Instead of thinking about how horrible Pete is in Mad Men, debate why Gary is such a horrible human being. At the end of the day, the 1990’s were labeled by Furby, Blue’s Clues and most importantly Ash Ketchum. Pokémon has allowed Generation-Y to rediscover how not to talk to girls, thanks Brock, and why Magikarp is the sleeper cell of Pokémon.

In essence, the original Pokémon surpasses the key qualities in every other Netflix show. Why watch Arrested Development, when you can see the comic antics of Team Rocket. And the nail-biting zombie encounters from The Walking Dead hold no value to watching Ash and friends trapped by an avalanche in a snow cave.

Pokémon is synonymous with childhood. Unless you’re watching Jiro Dreams of Sushi then you have no other option — it’s time to catch ‘em all.
