Justin Maxwell, OF, San Francisco Giants

2015 stats: .219 average, .277 on-base percentage, 7 HR, 48 hits, 25 RBIs, 24 runs, 65 strikeouts, 16 walks, 2 stolen bases

Skinny: Maxwell batted 0-for-2 in a 7-3 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Friday. He had two other plate appearances as a pinch hitter last week, walking both times.

 

Brett Cecil, LHP, Toronto Blue Jays

2015 stats: 3-4, 3.68 ERA, 5 saves, 31 hits, 41 strikeouts, 15 runs, 12 walks in 36.2 IP

Skinny: Wednesday, Cecil struck out two while pitching a perfect seventh inning in a 9-7 win over the Minnesota Twins. Two days later, the Dunkirk native earned the win after allowing no runs and one hit in the ninth inning of a 2-1 victory against the New York Yankees in 10 innings.

 

Jimmy Reed, LHP, Springfield Cardinals (St. Louis Cardinals Double-A affiliate)

2015 stats: 6-6, 3.48 ERA, 119 hits, 77 strikeouts, 48 runs, 19 walks in 116.1 IP

Skinny: In five innings, Reed allowed six runs, seven hits and two walks in a 10-8 win against the Arkansas Travelers on Thursday. Infielder Brian Hernandez hit a solo homer off Reed in the sixth inning with no outs. 

 

Adam Kolarek, LHP, Binghamton Mets (New York Mets Double-A affiliate)

2015 stats: 1-1, 4.14 ERA, 1 save, 47 hits, 50 strikeouts, 27 runs, 22 walks in 54.1 IP

Skinny: Kolarek threw two scoreless innings Thursday, allowing one hit and two walks in a 4-3 loss to the Bowie Baysox. He also struck out three. Two days later, the Baltimore native threw a perfect ninth inning, but Binghamton fell, 4-2, to the Trenton Thunder.

 

Jake Stinnett, RHP, South Bend Cubs (Chicago Cubs Full-Season Class-A affiliate)

2015 stats: 5-4, 4.52 ERA, 94 hits, 67 strikeouts, 54 runs, 45 walks in 91.2 IP

Skinny: Stinnett earned the win Saturday after allowing one run, three hits and two walks in seven innings. He also struck out six in the 5-1 win over the Clinton LumberKings.

 

Kevin Mooney, RHP, Auburn Doubledays (Washington Nationals Short-Season Class- A affiliate)

2015 stats: 0-0, 3.86 ERA, 0 saves, 10 hits, 5 strikeouts, 5 runs, 5 walks in 11.2 IP

Skinny: Mooney gave up two runs and three hits in the sixth inning of a 5-3 loss to the Williamsport Crosscutters on Thursday.

 

Blake Schmit, IF, Gulf Coast League Twins (Minnesota Twins Rookie affiliate)

2015 stats: .253 batting average, .368 on-base percentage, 1 HR, 14 RBIs, 11 runs, 20 hits, 15 strikeouts, 8 walks, 4 stolen bases

Skinny: In a series victory against the GCL Orioles, Schmit hit 4-for-13 with three runs, one RBI and four strikeouts. He then went 2-for-3 from the plate with one RBI in a 5-3 win against the GCL Red Sox on Friday.

 

Jose Cuas, 3B, Helena Brewers (Milwaukee Brewers Advanced Rookie affiliate)

2015 stats: .248 batting average, .322 on-base percentage, 5 HR, 25 RBIs, 26 runs, 38 hits, 32 strikeouts, 16 walks, 5 stolen bases

Skinny: Cuas hit 6-for-19 with six runs and six RBIs in a four-game series against the Idaho Falls Chukars. In a 10-8 win Sunday, Cuas hit two home runs in one game for the first time.

 

Jake Drossner, LHP, Helena Brewers (Milwaukee Brewers Advanced Rookie affiliate)

2015 stats: 2-1, 4.50 ERA, 34 hits, 31 strikeouts, 25 runs, 12 walks in 30 IP

Skinny: In four innings, Drossner allowed five runs, five hits and three walks in a 10-8 win over the Idaho Falls Chukars on Sunday. He also struck out four.

 

Lamonte Wade, OF, Elizabethton Twins (Minnesota Twins Rookie affiliate)

2015 stats: .309 batting average, .411 on-base percentage, 7 HR, 32 RBIs, 24 runs, 47 hits, 23 strikeouts, 24 walks, 3 stolen bases

Skinny: Wade hit 4-for-12 with three runs, two RBIs and four walks in a three-game series against the Johnson City Cardinals. In the 12th inning of a 4-2 win Thursday; Wade hit a go-ahead home run to seal the Twins win. In a three-game sweep of the Bluefield Blue Jays, Wade batted 4-for-10 with five runs, three RBIs and four walks. The Owings Mills native hit a three-run home run in the third inning of a 10-4 win Saturday.

 

Kevin Martir, Catcher, Greeneville Astros (Houston Astros Rookie affiliate)

2015 stats: .221 batting average, .368 on-base percentage, 0 HR, 13 RBIs, 8 runs, 17 hits, 13 strikeouts, 17 walks, 1 stolen base

Skinny: Martir failed to record a hit in eight at-bats against the Bristol Pirates. In an 8-1 win on Sunday, though, Martir drove in a run.

 

Zach Morris, LHP, Golf Coast League Phillies (Philadelphia Phillies Rookie affiliate)

2015 stats: 4-1, 3.14 ERA, 1 save, 11 hits, 16 strikeouts, 5 runs, 7 walks in 14.1 IP

Skinny: Morris earned the win Wednesday after allowing one run and three hits in 2.1 relief innings. He also struck out four and allowed no walks in the 12-3 win over the GCL Yankees2.

 

Alex Robinson, LHP, Elizabethton Twins (Minnesota Twins Rookie affiliate)

2015 stats: 0-2, 7.71 ERA, 0 saves, 4 hits, 10 strikeouts, 7 runs, 9 walks in 7 IP

Skinny: Robinson didn’t play this week.

 

Charlie White, OF, Joliet Slammers (Independent)

2015 stats: .281 average, .369 on-base percentage, 1 HR, 12 RBIs, 40 runs, 59 hits, 34 strikeouts, 27 walks, 20 stolen bases

Skinny: White hit 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI in an 11-4 win over the River City Rascals on Tuesday. He was also hit by a pitch.

 

Alfredo Rodriguez, 2B, Joliet Slammers (Independent)

2015 stats: .271 average, .350 on-base percentage, 4 HR, 32 RBIs, 43 runs, 70 hits, 27 strikeouts, 28 walks, 13 stolen bases

Skinny: In a three-game series against the River City Rascals, Rodriguez batted 3-for-10. He hit a grand slam in the second inning of an 11-4 win Tuesday. The Oak Hill, Virginia, native hit 3-for-11 with two walks and one stolen base in a three-game series against the Florence Freedom.

 

Jack Cleary, Catcher, Joliet Slammers (Independent)

2015 stats: .254 batting average, .338 on-base percentage, 1 HR, 28 RBIs, 18 runs, 46 hits, 28 strikeouts, 18 walks, 0 stolen bases

Skinny: While splitting games against the River City Rascals, Cleary hit 2-for-7 with two runs and three RBIs. He hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning of an 11-4 win Tuesday. In two losses to the Florence Freedom, Cleary batted 1-for-7 with three strikeouts.
