Omar Gonzalez, Defender, Los Angeles Galaxy
2015 stats: 17 GP, 16 GS, 1452 minutes, 1 goal, 3 assists, 7 shots, 3 yellow cards
Skinny: Gonzalez has been crucial for Los Angeles this season, playing in all but one contest. In the Galaxy’s 5-1 win against the Philadelphia Union on Saturday, the Dallas, Texas, native used a headed pass to assist on midfielder Stefan Ishizaki’s goal in the 59th minute. Gonzalez also assisted on a forward Robbie Keane shot two minutes later, but Keane struck wide left.
Taylor Kemp, Defender, D.C. United
2015 stats: 12 GP, 10 GS, 928 minutes, 0 goals, 4 assists, 1 shot, 3 yellow cards.
Skinny: Playing a full 90 minutes Saturday, Kemp helped limit the New England Revolution to one goal in the United’s 2-1 win. In the eighth minute, Kemp assisted on defender Steve Birnbaum’s header shot, but it sailed wide right.
Graham Zusi, Midfielder, Sporting Kansas City
2015 stats: 12 GP, 11 GS, 936 minutes, 1 goal, 4 assists, 12 shots, 1 yellow card
Skinny: In a 2-1 loss to Real Salt Lake Sunday, Zusi played 90 minutes and assisted on four shots, but they all missed the back of the net.
Mikey Ambrose, Defender, Austin Aztex
2015 stats: 13 GP, 12 GS, 1079 minutes, 0 goals, 0 assists, 3 shots, 1 yellow card
Skinny: Ambrose has been a crucial defender this season, playing in all but one game for the Aztex. Sunday, Ambrose played 90 minutes in a 1-1 tie with the Tulsa Roughnecks FC.
Rodney Wallace, Midfielder, Portland Timbers
2015 stats: 14 GP, 11 GS, 956 minutes, 0 goals, 3 assists, 23 shots, 2 yellow cards
Skinny: After coming off the bench for three consecutive games, Wallace earned his first start Saturday since May 23. The midfielder committed three fouls and played all 90 minutes in the Timbers’ 2-0 win against the Houston Dynamo.
Maurice Edu, Midfielder, Philadelphia Union
2015 stats: 16 GP, 16 GS, 1440 minutes, 0 goals, 1 assist, 14 shots, 6 yellow cards
Skinny: Edu has played in all but one game this season. On Saturday, the San Bernardino, California, native attempted four shots, including three in the first 12 minutes, but none of them reached the back of the net in the Union’s 5-1 loss to the Los Angeles Galaxy. Of Edu’s 14 shots this season, just three have been on goal.
London Woodberry, Defender, New England Revolution
2015 stats: 11 GP, 11 GS, 959 minutes, 0 goals, 2 assists, 2 shots, 4 yellow cards
Skinny: After not seeing the field last season with FC Dallas, Woodberry signed with the Revolution in February and has turned into a crucial asset. In a 2-1 loss to D.C. United Sunday, the defender committed one foul and allowed no goals before subbing out for defender Kevin Alston at the 59 minute. Without Woodberry on the field, United scored goals two goals in the second half.
Clarence Goodson, Defender, San Jose Earthquakes
2015 stats: 12 GP, 12 GS, 1035 minutes, 0 goals, 1 assist, 7 shots, 2 yellow cards
Skinny: Goodson hardly saw the field last season with San Jose, but he has turned into a consistent starter this year. On Saturday, the Alexandria, Virginia, native shot a header from the center of the box in the 20th minute, but the ball sailed wide left in the Earthquakes’ 2-0 loss to the Seattle Sounders FC.
A.J. DeLaGarza, Defender, Los Angeles Galaxy
2015 stats: 9 GP, 8 GS, 727 minutes, 0 goals, 0 assists, 1 shots, 1 yellow card
Skinny: Last season, DeLaGarza started 28 of the Galaxy’s 34 games. This season, though, the Bryans Road native has seen less time on the field, starting in eight of the team’s 18 games. DeLaGarza made his first start Saturday since May 17, playing all 90 minutes in Los Angeles’ 5-1 win over the Philadelphia Union.
Patrick Mullins, Forward, New York City FC
2015 stats: 11 GP, 6 GS, 557 minutes, 3 goals, 2 assists, 21 shots, 0 yellow cards
Skinny: Mullins is tied for the second most goals scored for New York this season. A two-time Hermann trophy winner, Mullins was selected by New York in the expansion draft after playing with the New England Revolution last season. The New Orleans, Louisiana, native was an unused substitute Saturday for the first time since April 16.
Robbie Rogers, Midfielder, Los Angeles Galaxy
2015 stats: 12 GP, 11 GS, 1067 minutes, 0 goals, 0 assists, 9 shots, 3 yellow cards
Skinny: Rogers returned from an Achilles injury June 13 after sitting out five games. Since returning, Rogers has taken one shot in two full games.
Ethan White, Defender, Philadelphia Union
2015 stats: 10 GP, 8 GS, 737 minutes, 0 goals, 0 assists, 1 shot, 2 yellow cards
Skinny: White was an unused substitute for three games, but returned to action Saturday off the bench in the 72 minute. Just four minutes after entering the contest, White attempted a header shot from the center of the box, but it soared over the goal in the Union’s 5-1 loss to the Los Angeles Galaxy.
Marc Burch, Defender, Colorado Rapids
2015 stats: 5 GP, 5 GS, 450 minutes, 0 goals, 0 assists, 3 shots, 1 yellow card
Skinny: After seeing time as a consistent starter last season, Burch has only appeared in five of the Rapids’ 15 games. In his last appearance May 27, the Cincinnati, Ohio, native took one shot in the 56 minute, but it was blocked in Colorado’s 1-0 loss to the Seattle Sounders. He hasn’t played in Colorado’s last three games.
Sunny Jane, Midfielder, Wilmington Hammerheads
2015 stats: 11 GP, 9 GS, 778 minutes, 1 goal, 0 assists, 21 shots, 1 yellow card
Skinny: Jane subbed in at the 31st minute in a 0-0 draw with the Richmond Kickers Saturday. He didn’t record any points.
Casey Townsend, Forward, Oklahoma City Energy
2015 stats: 11 GP, 10 GS, 693 minutes, 0 goals, 1 assist, 12 shots, 1 yellow card
Skinny: In the Energy’s 2-1 loss to Sacramento Republic FC Saturday, Townsend started, but was subbed out at the 57th minute.
Alex Lee, Defender, Richmond Kickers
2015 stats: 8 GP, 5 GS, 436 minutes, 0 goals, 1 assist, 1 shot, 0 yellow cards
Skinny: Lee didn’t record any points in a 0-0 draw against the Wilmington Hammerheads Saturday.
John Stertzer, Midfielder, Real Salt Lake
2015 stats: 10 GP, 4 GS, 341 minutes, 1 goal, 0 assists, 3 shots, 3 yellow cards
Skinny: In Real Salt Lake’s 2-1 win against Sporting Kansas City Sunday, the Oakton, Virginia, native was an unused substitute for the first time since May 27.
Zac MacMath, Goalkeeper, Colorado Rapids
2015 stats: 0 GP
Skinny: After the Philadelphia Union used their 2014 first round draft pick to select Andre Blake and then signed Algerian goalkeeper Rais Mbolhi, MacMath lost his starting job in Philadelphia for 2015. MacMath was loaned to the Rapids in January, but he is playing behind Clint Irwin, who has started every game in goal for Colorado this season.
Zack Steffen, Goalkeeper, United States U-20
2015 stats: 5 GP, 5 GS, 480 minutes, 16 saves, 4 goals against
Skinny: Steffen made three saves in the United States’ 1-0 win against Columbia June 10 in the U-20 World Cup to advance to the quarterfinals. In the second half, Steffen saved a penalty kick to keep Columbia off the board. Against Serbia June 14, Steffen saved five shots, but it wasn’t enough, as the U.S. lost, 3-2, in penalty kicks, putting a halt to their run.
