Shane Gentry
The Terrapins wrestling team’s Shane Gentry has earned ACC Co-Wrestler of the Week honors this week for his victory over No. 8 Matt Snyder of Virginia on Friday night. The bout was a rematch of the 2012 ACC Championship for 125 pounds.
Gentry trailed Snyder, 2-0, with eight second remaining in the third period. The junior earned a quick takedown and was rewarded a two-point near fall as time expired to capture a 4-3 victory.
Gentry is a first-time winner of the honor and the fifth Terp to earn it this season. No. 13 Geoffrey Alexander and No. 7 Jimmy Sheptock have each been honored twice.
The Terps wrap up their ACC slate on Saturday against Duke and NC State.
