For a good salad, look no further

When I am looking for something healthy and gluten-free, most of the time the first thing I grab for is a salad. Lucky for me, College Park has an amazing salad destination.

Sweet Green is located on Route 1 under The View and is a delicious place to get a salad. It has a number of different salads you can order from the menu, but it also allows you to make your own salad, so you can have exactly what you want.

This may seem similar to Salad Works, a student favorite in Stamp Student Union. However, Sweet Green has more options. And if you have a gluten allergy, it even offers some grains you can put in your salad instead of pasta.

The available salads change seasonally and monthly based on what veggies and other ingredients are in season. These options are on the menu, and the individual ingredients are listed on the seasonal menu.

To make your salad, Sweet Green covers all of the basics. You start with what type of lettuce you want, and then move to veggies, crunch, proteins, cheese and dressing. On its website, you are able to click on each option and the nutrition facts come up to help you make the healthiest salad you can.

As for gluten free food, Sweet Green labels dressings with a “GF” so you know what you can have. The other ingredients are all separate, so if it is gluten free you don’t have to worry. I highly recommend quinoa, a cool touch to the salad that is gluten free and delicious.

Salads are nice, but there is one thing people will always eat over a salad: good frozen yogurt. Finding good fro-yo places is exciting and it’s nice to have more than one option on Route 1. Sweet Green has a healthy, tart frozen yogurt with toppings that add so much to the flavor.

Sweet Green has even more to offer with homemade tea and lemonade. Everything is delicious and definitely worth checking out. It makes eating things that are healthy easy — it tastes so great you can’t tell how healthy it is.
