Somebody that we want to see live

Being surrounded by several bustling cities is a blessing for us concert-going Terps. This week is jam-packed with events that will satisfy nearly every music lover.

The biggest event this week is Gotye, with opening acts Missy Higgins and Jonti. The Australian-Belgian singer, famous for the song we are so sick of but still secretly love, will be at Merriweather Post Pavillion in Columbia on Sunday.

“Somebody that I Used to Know,” featuring Kimbra, went viral this past winter, selling a whopping 7 million digital copies worldwide. The song became so catchy that it even inspired a remix by one of the world’s most famous DJs, Tiesto.

Tickets are still available for $45. And don’t worry, Gotye actually has other songs that are worth listening to.

If you’re totally over Gotye, Club Josephine is hosting Turkish DJ Deniz Koyu on Thursday. If you think you’ve never heard of him, think again. You’ve heard his most popular song a dozen times at parties or clubs and probably never realized who it was.

MTV named him as one of the EDM rookies to watch out for in the upcoming year. If you’re tired of Bentley’s on Thursdays (which, let’s get real, who isn’t?) definitely spend the very affordable $20 to go see him.

Last but not least, don’t forget about Life in Color (Dayglow) at RFK Stadium on Saturday, featuring Dada Life and Bingo Players. Last week, DC’s newest club, Echostage, announced its special guest for the after party is Dada Life. Word on the street is that the newly opened venue was amazing and jaw dropping at its grand opening. If you don’t want to dedicate your entire night, there is no better chance to explore the new venue than by going to an after show.
