Lime Fresh Mexican Grill is one of 20 businesses to open in College Park in in the last year.
If you’re craving Mexican food, but trying to eat healthy, don’t rule out Lime Fresh.
Lime Fresh is one of College Park’s newest and most popular eateries, located in the spot that used to hold California Tortilla. The key to finding healthy food at Lime is just knowing where to look. The first obvious healthy choice would be a salad. Each salad would be healthier if you limited the amount of dressing you put on, or get it without the extra tortilla chips.
One salad I would recommend is the Taco Salad, mostly because it is one of the few salads that doesn’t have bacon. Don’t get me wrong, bacon can be great in small portions. If you’re going for that, get the Cabo Cobb Salad — it comes with other vegetables to balance it out.
For those of you who are sick of salads on a diet, try the Lite Quesadilla, which is whole-wheat tortillas with fat-free beans, cheese, and chicken. This is a great way to not eliminate all carbs and still be able to eat something with tons of taste.
Another great option would be the Lower Carb Taco, which again has a multigrain shell with chicken, lettuce, cheese and pico de gallo. Like the quesadilla, this would be a great idea for someone who is sick of eliminating bread out of every meal.
The healthiest burrito option is similar to Chipotle’s burrito bowl. You can’t go wrong with the Nudie Burrito, and you can make it as healthy as you want. You choose what goes in it, and you can get it without the tortilla chips or less rice to keep the carbs to a minimum.
The most tempting part of Lime Fresh is definitely all of the salsas it has to choose from. Resist the temptation to try every single one. Keep it simple, pick two that you want and don’t get too much of them.
The pineapple salsa is delicious and so is the salsa verde, I would recommend trying those. If you like the spicier salsas, go for it, friend.
