Even though the championship Mark Turgeon really wants to win will be handed out on April 4 of next year, the Maryland men’s basketball coach got to see one of his favorite teams clinch a title on Sunday night.

The lifelong Kansas City Royals fan was in attendance at Citi Field for Game 5 of the World Series, an exciting affair that saw the visitors triumph over the host Mets and finish the season as baseball’s best organization. According to The Baltimore Sun, Turgeon also witnessed the Royals get crowned in 1985, meaning he’s seen both of the franchise’s only two World Series victories in person.

The 50-year old tweeted out pictures of him and his sons before and after the contest, which definitely made the moment all the more special for the Terps’ headman:

The 2016 Final Four will take place in Houston, about five months from now. If Turgeon’s bunch can reach that big stage, will some members of the Royals consider returning the favor and go show support for his squad like he did for them in New York?

In fact, Google Maps says that Kauffman stadium, where the now defending World Series champs play, is only 749 miles away from NRG Stadium, where the NCAA title matchup will be held. Fire up the aux cord, pick up some solid snacks, and that road trip will blow by. It’s only fair that they do for Turgeon what he did for them, right?
